If you’re passionate about your community and keen to make a difference, Volunteer Centre Hackney’s free training on Community Organising might be for you!

Volunteer Centre Hackney is delivering this free one-day course on Friday 13th July 10am – 4pm  to enable people to come together, agree common goals, and use their skills, talents and passions to deliver social action initiatives.

Funded by the Adult Learning Trust, as part of their 2018 Festival of Learning, this free training will be delivered at the venue of VCH’s community-led social action project Our Place, on the New Kingshold estate at 1 Alpine Grove, E9.

Supported by Community Organisers Ltd, the course is approved as quality training provision by Certa and as Professional Development by CPD. It will cover the core foundations of community organising – genuine, effective listening which sparks dialogue and explores motivations, an analysis of power in community and how to build it, and an exploration of how to organise and motivate people to take effective action together to address common concerns.

The course will help you to:

  • Understand the importance of listening to build relationships
  • Begin to explore power and power dynamics in communities
  • Appreciate how to motivate people to take action
  • Plan your next steps and actions in community organising

There are only 10 places are available, which will allocated on a first come, first served basis. To take part, please email Martha Willliams, to ourplace@vchackney.org
