On Tuesday 9th May 2017, as part of Mental Health Awareness week, our Step Up project delivered a workshop on ‘Understanding and Dealing with Stress’.

The session focused on what our understanding of stress is, and what can potentially trigger this feeling within us. As expected, we all have different stress triggers and these can be both external and internal. Working in small groups, situations were discussed which have proved to be difficult for attendees and gaining an understanding of how and why these situations may arise proved beneficial.

The second part of this workshop, which will be running in June 2017, will be focusing on how we can practically deal with stress, using various self-help techniques.

Step Up is an innovative project that aims to support people with mental health problems to access volunteering as part of their mental health recovery and provides intensive long term support to find and sustain paid employment. We use volunteer mentors to provide ongoing coaching, motivation and encouragement on an individual basis well as group workshops, group volunteering activities and events.

If you interested in attending, and/or would like to find out more about the Step Up project and how they can support you, please contact stepupadmin@vchackney.org or call 0207 241 4443 ext 203.
