Pathways

Pathways was a one-year pilot project to support the unemployed into volunteering.

We are no longer accepting referrals onto this project, but you can book an appointment at our Resource Centre to find out about other volunteering opportunities in Hackney, all of which will help you add something new to your CV and improve your job prospects!

The decision to volunteer is often an emotional one, whether it is to help people, the environment or animals. The aim of Pathways is to add on the emotional benefits and also to introduce the professional attributes and rewards that evolve from undertaking voluntary opportunities.

If your idea of volunteering is based on a motivation to help others, imagine then what it could add to your personal development and perhaps on your journey to assist others help yourself too.

The type of volunteer work based on the right incentive not only adds to immersing yourself within your local community as well as familiarising yourself with all it has to offer, it is a direct opportunity to assist less-advantaged individuals within your community.

The aim of the Pathways Project is to empower you to become job ready by completing a voluntary placement. After a basic skills assessment, an action plan will be drawn up with you which sets out the one to one guidance and support you will be offered by Volunteer Centre Hackney.

To further support you on your pathway to employment we will help you write your CV and arrange an accredited training course run by an external partner to develop skills in your chosen area. You will be expected to complete 200 hours of volunteering, to attend any training courses arranged for you and to complete 2 monitoring assessments during your placement.
