Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering in their communities. This year’s theme is ‘Celebrate and Inspire’, so we’ll be sharing the massive contribution that volunteers make, and encouraging people who haven’t volunteered before to get involved in whatever way works for them.
Over 1,000 people have donated their time as volunteers to help others in Hackney over the past year. Especially in the current climate, it’s crucial to recognise the contribution of volunteers to the local community.
This Volunteers’ Week, VCH will be celebrating our volunteers by sharing the difference they make. We’re also inviting all volunteers and anyone who’s interested in volunteering to pop by for a chat and some cake (and fruit) on us in the VCH office.
‘Whether they give an hour, a week, or a month, volunteers stave off loneliness and isolation; build confidence and skills; and ensure vulnerable residents find and access vital services. At VCH, we see the vast depth and breadth of the impact they make.’ Lauren, CEO of Volunteer Centre Hackney
Current volunteers are invited to drop by between 5 and 7pm for the chance to chat with other volunteers and the rest of the team.
Anyone who wants to find out more about volunteering is welcome to drop by between 3 and 6pm. They’ll have the chance to meet people in the same position, chat to the rest of the VCH team.
Wednesday 7th June
