There is less than a week to go until the 5 December – the day nominated by the UN as #InternationalVolunteerDay.
A time to say thank you
This is a great opportunity to celebrate your volunteers, say ‘thank you’ and tell them about the impact they have had.
Below is a list of just a few low cost and easy ways to say thank you to your volunteers:
- Send them a card or e-card to say thank you for all their work!
- Write a short social media post to say thank you to your volunteers.
- Organise a get together- treat your volunteers to some lunch or a coffee morning
- Nominate your volunteers for Room to Reward
You can find more ideas on volunteer reward and recognition here.
Celebrate your volunteering programme and its impact in the local community
It’s also a great day to promote volunteering. Has your volunteering programme had a significant impact on Hackney residents’ lives? Has your volunteering programme contributed towards community development? Why not let the world know by publishing an article on your website or a short story on your social media? You could even approach local media and ask them to run a story about your successes!
Do you need more volunteers?
If you are still recruiting volunteers, then why not schedule some social media posts on that day to ask more people to volunteer for you? Make sure to register your opportunity with Volunteer Centre Hackney.
