Hackney organisations continue to be busy creating and adapting their services to respond to the needs of local and there a host of new volunteer roles across the borough. Whether you have time to spare, or have recently returned to work from furlough, there are a range of one-off, regular and monthly roles where you can support your community around your own responsibilities.

Food delivery services are still in urgent need of drivers and packing volunteers to help deliver essentials to local residents in need. Get on your bike and help deliver food for Amurt as a Delivery Volunteer, or help deliver hot meals for Shoreditch Trust’s Community Table project. VCH receives regular requests for delivery volunteers, so let us know by email if you’re keen to do a role that fits around your schedule at [email protected]

Tech-minded and looking to help? Familiar with audio visual equipment and looking to help out? Newington Green Meeting House are looking for a volunteer to support their Events Team to ensure the smooth running of their events.

If you’re passionate about health and wellbeing, Healthwatch Hackney are seeking volunteers to help guide the direction of health and social care as part of their Neighbourhood Resident Involvement Group and Board. They’re also in need of Telephone Outreach Volunteers, to help reach the community over the phone.

If you’ve got finance, business or funding experience, help local organisations continue to fund their essential work. A Grants Officer is needed for local groups such as Natange who need fundraising volunteers to help identifying and sourcing funds to support their campaigns and work in the community. Peter Bedford Housing Association and Jami are both searching for friendly volunteers to take part in befriending, regularly calling local people to talk and help reduce loneliness and isolation in the community. Grassroots group Xenia are looking for English speakers to take part in their weekly sessions with local migrant women to learn English (currently online and via telephone).
