Let’s #AccelerateAction this International Women’s Day! Taking place on Saturday 8 March, this awareness day celebrates women’s achievements and drives gender parity.
We’re lucky to have the amazing Girls’ Talk sessions in Hackney, led by our Together Better volunteer, Chiara Farina.

Girls’ Talk – a safe space for women in Hackney to connect
“Together Better is utterly refreshing and exciting,” said Chiara. Girls’ Talk supports women to discuss positive self-talk, good boundaries in relationships, communicating needs, self-care, love languages and more.
The sessions normally feature a workshop or group activity on a specific topic, with a view to attendees making positive changes in their lives.
“It’s so uplifting to know I’m promoting what is essentially love and hope,” said Chiara.
The group meets at Somerford Grove GP Practice every Tuesday from 2pm-3pm. Contact Ellie on 07305 016640 if you’re interested in attending.
Chiara added: “I feel a deep satisfaction from connecting with other women. I wake up on Tuesdays with a purpose, thinking about all the positive ideas that I could share.”
Our Together Better service empowers volunteers to develop and lead activities at their local GP practice, bringing the community together and reducing loneliness. Discover more here.

This is your chance to support pregnant women and new mothers who are seeking asylum, many of whom have survived war on their way to Hackney. Anyone with the above experience and strong administrative and listening skills would be a good fit.
One resident who used The Happy Baby Community’s services said: “You helped me. You are amazing. Like an angel.”
