St Joseph’s Hospice Islington Bereavement Service will be running a FREE 2 day training course for new Bereavement Volunteers on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 September at St Joseph’s Hospice, Mare St. London E8 4SA

The service offers bereavement support to Islington adults, and is based on a peer support model (not formal counselling). Volunteers must have good listening skills, a non-judgemental manner, and the ability to empathise with bereaved adults.

St Joseph’s Hospice requires new volunteers to undertake the two day training course  to prepare them for their bereavement befriending  role. We ask volunteers for a commitment of approx. 8 hours per month once you are matched to a community member, for up to 10 weekly sessions of 1 to 1 support.

Whilst referrals can come from Islington address, volunteers are welcome to applu from any of the adjacent boroughs, as long as you are able to travel to Islington to volunteer.

Interested? If you’re able to attend the training, call St Joseph’s Hospice on 0203 317 5774, or apply online below. Click here to see our volunteer opportunities & to apply
