Trustees’ Week is an annual event to showcase the great work that trustees do and highlight opportunities for people from all walks of life to get involved and make a difference in their community. They play a vital role, volunteering their time and working together to make important decisions about the charity’s work.
Ross Diamond is our current Chair of our Board of Trustees, and has been a trustee with VCH since 2015. He is the former CEO of Redbridge CVS where he worked for 16 years, and is about to take up the post of CEO with Age UK Lewisham and Southwark. Ross shares about his experience being a trustee at VCH.
I joined the Board of Volunteer Centre Hackney as I wanted to get more engaged with my local community, to share and learn with local people. I really value being able to support a vital local service which delivers so much great work in my community. I enjoy working as part of a team in an unpaid role with a real sense of common purpose.
I hope I have shared some useful knowledge and experience of voluntary sector governance and project management (having worked for many charities) and offer a supportive sounding-board for the CEO.
‘Being a trustee is a great way to learn, share and get involved with causes that you are passionate about. Everyone has something to contribute’.
