VCH’s award-winning project Our Place has been successfully supporting Hackney residents on the New Kingshold estate, for the last 3 years, to develop their confidence and expertise to deliver their own activities and projects which help build people’s skills and bring their communities together.
With new funding from both the Big Lottery and Hackney Council, through the Place Based Social Action programme, we are now able to expand to Hoxton. To help us grow and develop, we have just appointed four new part time staff ; four Community Development Officers – Sian Slater and Alice White for the Hoxton area and Stephanie Thomas and Tanya Sawyers for New Kingshold. Three live in Hackney and were resident volunteers before being appointed while the fourth works at a local Hoxton art gallery.
