Want to get involved volunteering near you this Spring?
Whether you’re assisting at a food bank, mentoring young people, or lending a hand with conservation clean-up projects, you’ll have the chance to make a difference, meet new people, and learn new skills. These connections not only enrich your own life but also strengthen the social fabric of Hackney.
If you have a few hours to spare or want to help at a one-off event, there’s a volunteer opportunity waiting for you in Hackney. Browse a selection of our opportunities below:
One-off volunteering
These opportunities are low commitment, and a great way to try out volunteering for the first time.
Youth Leader
If you love working with young people and want to support refugees and migrants, this is the role for you. Our Second Home is looking for passionate, empathetic people to help with their school holiday camps for young refugees and migrants. If you speak Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Tigrinya, Somali, even better!
Community Grants Panel Volunteer
Help Hackney Giving decide which street parties and events to give grants to – no experience needed! You’ll get training and the chance to learn about how local communities are reducing isolation.
Regular volunteering
Want to try something a bit more consistent? Join a team of volunteers and build your skills over time with one of these opportunities.
Conservation Helper
Help protect the River Lea and develop your conservation skills with Gasworks Dock Partnership. You’ll be taking part in fun activities like bat nights, tree planting, river safaris, bird watching, and more.
Community Fundraiser
Engage, inspire and collaborate with communities to raise awareness and funds to help save lives with St John Ambulance. Volunteering to raise vital funds is flexible, can work around your schedule, and doesn’t require a regular commitment.
Gig Buddy
Do you love going to different activities out and about? Share that joy as a gig buddy, and help empower adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to access the best of London.
Maternity Mate
Can you help a woman in a challenging circumstance through pregnancy and birth? Volunteer with Sister Circle
and be there for a mother at a really important time.
