Each year from 1 – 7 June, volunteers are celebrated across the country via Volunteers’ Week. This annual event looks very different this year – and whilst Volunteer Centre Hackney aren’t able to host our usual Volunteer Fair where you can meet organisations and charities face to face, you can still find out about what’s on offer in the borough:

  • Check out our roles on Volunteer Connect – whilst some organisations are currently not delivering services, many are still recruiting for volunteers. Enter Covid-19 in the keyword search to find specific roles.
  • Take a look at our specialist role round up showcasing some of the roles that are on offer at the moment.
  • Visit our Featured Volunteer Opportunities on the VCH website.

If these roles aren’t quite what you’re seeking, you can also find out loads of other ways to help support your community here. New opportunities and ideas include writing to seriously ill children via PostPals (please be aware that the team are quarantining post to prevent the spread of Covid-19).

If you have your own idea for a project or way to support the community, you can also get help from VCH to develop your own activities. Get in touch with Sulekha to talk about your idea and see how we can help make it happen at [email protected]

If you are already volunteering, we want to say a huge and heartfelt thank you for all the support you are giving to our community. We really could not do this without you sharing your time and skills.

Share what you’ve been up to using the hashtags #VolunteersWeek2020 and #HackneySpirit – and don’t forget to join us for #CheersForVolunteers at 8pm on Monday 1 June!
