With the last few weeks of the summer coming up, here’s our latest batch of volunteering roles that you can try out within your community.
๐ถ Assist parents in your community as a Parent Group Leader
Are you a parent who would like to to lead and facilitate National Childbirth Trust’s Parent Group Leaders sessions? As a Parent Group Leader you be trained and supported to facilitate and deliver a Being a Parent (BAP) course to parents in your local community.
๐๏ธ Help your community celebrate your local architecture and neighbourhoods
Celebrate the unique historic architecture within your local area as part of Open House Festival, an annual celebration of London’s architecture and neighbourhoods, and the people and communities behind them. Every year, buildings and other sites across all 33 London boroughs open to the public, so that Londoners can explore and learn about them for free.
๐ฃโโ๏ธ Inspire children and young people about your local canals
Do you have a love for nature? Join our small team of friendly explorers and education volunteers and lead guided walks around the best waterside spots in your local area.
๐ช Use your creative skills to promote the work of a charity supporting underprivileged families
Are you creative and want to use your skills to support others? You will be creating visually appealing designs for our promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, social media graphics, and event banners.
๐ซ Create meaningful connections in your community through mentoring a child
Support a child during a crucial time in their lives, as they transition from primary to secondary school. In your weekly sessions whether you are playing games or discussing goals, by becoming a mentor you can help a child to build confidence, resilience, and the tools for a positive future.
๐ Support individuals in your communities who are homeless or vulnerable
Provide a helping hand to an organisation which supports the most vulnerable in our society by serving food, drinks and providing donated items and giving an essential opportunity for social interaction.
๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ Help your community be more active and enjoy their local park
Do you enjoy being active in your local green spaces? Become a junior parkrun volunteer marshal and support and encourage children and young people as they participate in a totally free 2km timed run, every Sunday morning.ย
๐Support stroke survivors in your community
Give half a day a week to provide support at a weekly stroke survivors group, from helping to set up the room, having a chat through to running activities and joining in with outings.
๐ Be a listening ear to anxiety sufferers in your community
Are you an empathetic listener? Receive training and support to become a helpline volunteer for those in your community who suffer from anxiety.
๐ด Support families and children in your community at a lunch club
Provide a helping hand to Hackney Playbus at their weekly lunch clubs for families in the community. Volunteers are needed to ensure the smooth running of the club in order to support families and their little ones.
