By offering volunteer brokerage and a community befriending service, we will be enhancing the wellbeing and connectedness of City of London residents and workers.

For the past 28 years, VCH have been inspiring, developing, and supporting communities by making volunteering widely available and accessible across Hackney. We have been providing tailored support to individuals and charities to achieve our goal of making volunteering a meaningful experience for everyone involved.

We are delighted to announce that with the support of a grant from the City of London Corporation’s Community Infrastructure Levy Neighbourhood Fund, VCH are now expanding into the City of London with the aim of encouraging our City neighbours to also roll up their sleeves and pick up a trowel, a food parcel, or even just the telephone to chat with an isolated resident.

City of London brokerage

We will be offering Volunteering Brokerage to support City of London residents or workers to find and apply for volunteering roles that will benefit them as individuals, and help to strengthen their community. Together with charities and other community groups and partners, we will develop a database of volunteering opportunities, and offer support to residents to find a role that matches their interests and availability.

We will also deliver our Community Befriending programme in the City and will be looking to recruit, train and support volunteers – Community Befrienders – to build trusting long lasting relationships with isolated residents, providing companionship and support to reach personal goals, such as attending community activities and events.
