Congratulations to Christine Lungu, volunteer of the month!
Christine has volunteered a whopping 500 hours since 2021. Read her story below:
‘After retiring, I found it so boring just at being at home so I contacted Volunteer Centre Hackney, who referred me to Krista at Elsdale Surgery (my own surgery!). I began volunteering here in 2021 as a Surgery Administrator, helping patients on the Engage & Consult booking system. I have been involved in more projects at the surgery, with the support of Krista and VCH. ‘
‘I was given the chance to lead a weekly Walking Group, I help run the Wednesday’s Women’s group, and I am now famous for leading the surgery wellbeing garden. Alongside a team of other patient volunteers, we created a wonderful green space for all the staff and patients. It gives me such pleasure to see the staff out there enjoying the fruit and veg we have grown here for them. Volunteering has given me my purpose back post-retirement, I really enjoy giving back to the community I live in.’ Christine, Volunteer Patient, Together Better
