Volunteers’ Week takes place every year from 1-7 June. It’s an opportunity to recognise and thank volunteers across the UK.

Over the last two years thousands of volunteers supported communities in Hackney through the pandemic. But hundreds of local people continue to volunteer every week in other ways as well – establishing groups, achieving common goals, and sharing expertise and experience.

At VC Hackney alone, this year 890 local people have begun new volunteering placements. This includes:

46 Community Supporters offering friendship to those socially isolated

35 patients supported through the Together Better project to lead their own activities at GP surgeries

⭐️ 13 residents supported through the Our Place project to run their own community projects

92% of these volunteers agreed that the experience connected them to people from different communities.

We all benefit from volunteering! So why not make Volunteers’ Week the time to give it a go?
