Mentor for Young Refugees

Help someone adjust to life in Hackney by acting as a Volunteer Mentor for Young Refugees with Breadwinners. Those keen to support someone with employability skills, future goals, and social skills would be a perfect match for the role. This organisation supports young refugees to become employed selling baked goods. Asiyo, who took part in one of Breadwinners’ employment programmes, said: “If I had to describe Breadwinners in one word, I’d say amazing!” If that’s got you excited to help, apply today!

Speak Out. Stay Safe. Volunteer

Provide a safe space for people in Hackney as a Speak Out. Stay Safe. Volunteer with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. You’ll work with other volunteers at workshops, ensuring children know who they can speak to and feel empowered to speak out if they feel at risk of abuse or have been or are being abused. Full training is provided, and you’ll be a perfect fit if you’re an empathetic person with great communication skills.

Community Engagement Volunteer

Gamcare are looking for volunteer community engagement ambassadors to help raise awareness about the harmful impacts of gambling. Volunteers will be able to showcase their people skills by attending events across their local area and beyond, sharing information regarding gambling and gambling harms.

Hackney Half Marathon Playbus Volunteer

Do you love high energy, positive vibes, and getting stuck into something meaningful? Hackney Playbus need volunteers to help at the Hackney Half Marathon to create a playful and exciting experience for kids and families. You’ll be part of a fun and fast-paced team atmosphere, helping out with our pop-up play activities and spreading the Hackney Playbus joy!

Great Card Index Volunteer

The Great Card Index is made up of over a million handwritten cards which preserve the records of everyday lives and make them available to anyone wanting to understand where they’ve come from. Society of Genealogists are looking for volunteers who would like to help them transcribe index cards which detail crucial historical information for thousands of families.

Digital Skills Champion

Bridge the Gap aims to empower individuals and communities to help them build their confidence in navigating the digital world. They are in need of volunteers to help out at their digital skills workshops to improve the tech knowledge and skills of individuals and families in the community.
