Walking Group Leader
Walk this way for social connection and good vibes in Hackney! Our Together Better service, which empowers volunteers to stage activities at their registered GP, is recruiting for a volunteer to lead our walking group at Lower Clapton GP. The ideal candidate would be chatty, friendly, a great listener, and able to manage the pace of walking groups for those who can’t walk as fast as others. Apply today if you’re ready to help boost mental and physical health in Hackney!
Mentor for Young Refugees
Help someone adjust to life in Hackney by acting as a Volunteer Mentor for Young Refugees with Breadwinners. Those keen to support someone with employability skills, future goals, and social skills would be a perfect match for the role. This organisation supports young refugees to become employed selling baked goods. Asiyo, who took part in one of Breadwinners’ employment programmes, said: “If I had to describe Breadwinners in one word, I’d say amazing!” If that’s got you excited to help, apply today!
Fundraising Volunteer
Want to help build communities in Hackney? If that sounds promising, this Community Fundraising Volunteer with Unity Support Network has your name on it! You’ll secure important funds for activities such as arts and crafts classes, youth clubs and other initiatives to reduce social isolation. If you’re passionate about helping others and have the drive and determination to succeed, you’ll be an ideal fit. The role would also be a great route towards a long-term career with charities.
Coffee Morning Volunteer
If you love having a natter over a brew, you could be tailor-made for our Coffee Morning Volunteer role. You’ll help stage the events with our Together Better programme, which won a Royal Society for Public Health, Health and Wellbeing Award in 2024. As a volunteer you’ll chat with guests, set up tables and chairs and make sure everyone has a lovely time. You’ll be part of something in Hackney which builds community and reduces social isolation.
Speak Out. Stay Safe. Volunteer
Provide a safe space for people in Hackney as a Speak Out. Stay Safe. Volunteer with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. You’ll work with other volunteers at workshops, ensuring children know who they can speak to and feel empowered to speak out if they feel at risk of abuse or have been or are being abused. Full training is provided, and you’ll be a perfect fit if you’re an empathetic person with great communication skills.
Film and TV Volunteer
Fancy yourself as the next Steven Spielberg or a budding Stanley Kubrick? If so, this Film and TV Volunteer position is ready-made for you. WORLDwrite seeks volunteers to work on its upcoming film about the history of freedom in the UK. This is a rare opportunity to get behind the camera, learn how to shape shots, and develop your storytelling skills. Furthermore, you’ll use 4K and HD cameras and gain insight in lighting and sound.
