Neighbourhood Forums Volunteer

Want to voice your opinion on healthcare in Hackney? Well, this could be your dream role! Neighbourhood Forums is looking for General Volunteer to assist with events and provide recommendations on local healthcare. You’ll really help drive change and remove barriers to healthcare in your area. You’ll act as a friendly face, set up events, greet guests and promote community projects. That said, if you’re willing to get stuck in to multiple tasks and want to campaign for more equitable and accessible healthcare, don’t delay getting in touch.

English Teacher (ESOL) Volunteer

Help asylum seekers and other members of the community adjust to life in Hackney by volunteering as an English teacher with our Together Better service. You’ll develop skills teaching a diverse range of people, building an understanding of the migrant community, and do something kind in your local area. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, an empathetic nature, and the ability to plan lessons in a proactive manner. You’ll need to commit to one hour lessons each week plus preparation time.

Parent to Parent Support Line

Are you the parent or carer of an autistic person? You could make a world of difference as a Parent to Parent Support Line Volunteer with the National Autistic Society. This award-winning support line offers emotional support, practical strategies, and a listening ear when parents need it the most. You’ll be brimming with enthusiasm and self-motivation, as well as a knack for handling sensitive topics with compassion and professionalism.

Age UK Meet and Greet Volunteer

Age UK are seeking friendly and enthusiastic people to become a Meet and Greet Volunteer to welcome guests to the Marie Lloyd Centre in Dalston. You’ll be responsible for providing a friendly face, answering questions about Age UK services, promoting activities, and serving tea and coffee. Those who can make a cracking brew and easily bond with people would be an ideal fit, whereas you’ll also have a passion for community work and the ability to multi-task.

Boat Restoration/DIY Volunteer

Are you a dab hand at DIY? If you’re good with your hands and fancy yourself as a bit of a tradesperson, this Boat Restoration/DIY Volunteer role with Gasworks Dock Partnership has your name on it. Volunteers will collaborate with the Boat Restoration team, restoring boats including Frederick Kitchen – the last timber boat to be made at the Thames Irons Work just down the river from Cody Dock. Marketing and Social Media Volunteer

Any one who could create a buzz on social media and create viral-worthy digital content will be well at home in Outward Housing’s Marketing and Social Media Volunteer role. While the role is a great role into social care, you’ll develop experience working with an organisation who help people with learning disabilities live independently. If you’re ready to flex your creative writing skills, help with admin and promote the needs of those with learning disabilities, this is the role for you.
