Together Better: Celebrating the project’s wonderful participants and volunteers

On Monday 15th September, participants and volunteers from Volunteer Centre Hackney’s award winning Together Better programme took to the stage at the majestic Hoxton Hall to show off their unique and wonderful talents.

Together Better is Volunteer Centre Hackney’s award-winning programme which provides the opportunity for individuals to participate in and volunteers to lead free activities at GP surgeries across Hackney.

On Monday 15th September, in what was a night to remember, participants and volunteers from the programme took to the stage at the majestic Hoxton Hall and showcased their incredible talents.

In front of a packed hall, a mixture of solo and group performers recited poetry, sang songs and played musical instruments. For most of those involved it was their very first time on stage and Claire Ferrigi, Together Better’s Programme Manager, was impressed and delighted with how the event went.

“The show was absolutely fantastic; every single performance was amazing. The people should be incredibly proud of themselves for having the confidence to get up there and perform in front of over 100 people. That takes real courage and talent.”

Claire said it was wonderful to have so much support behind the scenes and in the audience, adding that:

“We really appreciate everyone who came out to support the show, your presence made it extra special. And a massive thank you to all the volunteers who helped behind the scenes. We truly couldn’t have done it without you. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made all the difference.”

Together Better supports a number of activities across Hackney’s GP surgeries that are run by volunteers for the community’s benefit such as yoga classes, art & craft sessions and walking groups. The showcase event at Hoxton Hall emphasises the importance of the programme and its ability to provide an opportunity for individuals to share their skills and provide support for others in their community:

“Events like this remind us how powerful community support can be. It’s not just about the performances, it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, encouraged, and celebrated.”
