“My community are grateful there is someone who they can speak to confidently, who is trained to give advice.”
VCH are looking for people who live, work or study in City and Hackney to show leadership and help save lives by communicating key public health messages to family, friends, colleagues and neighbours.
In partnership with City and Hackney Public Health, we are recruiting and training people to become Public Health Community Champions to support the reduction in the transmission of COVID-19 in City and Hackney.
Previously the training programme was only being offered to frontline staff members and volunteers from local community services and we have so far trained 127 Public Health Community Champions within 57 local organisations.
But now we’re expanding the programme so anyone in the borough who wants to help can become a champion.
As a champion, you will communicate potentially life-saving public health information on topics including:
• Health and safety measures
• Covid-19 vaccines
• The availability of testing
• How to access testing
• The contact tracing system
• Accessing support if needing to self-isolate
You will also help to combat the misinformation spreading in our communities.
All champions will receive ongoing support from both Public Health England and VCH staff via direct contact with City and Hackney Public Health but also at regular Forums.
If you are interested in helping support the local effort in tackling COVID-19, please sign up here.
