“I discovered skills, strengths and a confidence I never knew I had. It is helping me build experience for future employment. Step Up has been my backbone, always there to lift and support me” – Step Up member
Step Up is a Volunteer Centre Hackney programme which supports individuals aged 18+ living in Hackney or the City of London who struggle with their mental health to find and start volunteering.
Join us at an in-person sessions to explore volunteering. There are opportunities at three different Hackney charities and you can come along to one, two or all three of the sessions.
These sessions are part of a joint project from Hackney Quest, IRIE Mind & Volunteer Centre Hackney funded by the NHS. Our programme aims to address health inequalities for Black and Mixed heritage residents. We will therefore prioritise registrations from residents in this group.

Meet like-minded folks, learn about the amazing work of these three local charities, and find out how the Step Up programme can help you build skills and confidence for paid work and improve your wellbeing. If you enjoy it and are interested in more, we would be happy to discuss what your journey with Step Up might look like.
